Jack Wild 1952--2006
Yesterday, former UK child actor star Jack Wild passed away at the age of 53. While he was best remembered as the Artful Dodger in the movie "Oliver!", to fans of classic Saturday morning kids TV, he was known for his role as Jimmy in the Sid & Marty Kroft series HR Pufnstuf, which then became the movie "Pufnstuf".

Back in 1999, I was lucky to bump into Wild's co-star from the TV show outside the Toy Fair building here in New York.

Update on Jack Wild!!!

As I suspected, he did have a battle with alcohol but I was shocked and saddened to learn that a battle with mouth cancer has left him mute!! At least he was still able to talk in his DVD interview which obviously had been filmed before this tragedy took place!

This article explains his ordeal in more detail...

Does this make the pssibility of a reunion movie/special less likely?

Jimmy's Shrink..

If you ask me, Jack Wild looks like he's had a hard life since "H.R. Pufnstuff"'s been over. In fact I imagine that for Jimmy, the real world was a pretty drab and harsh place since coming home from Living Island.

I picture that while he was away, his parents gave up hope that they'd ever see him again, however, his mother was expecting another baby...TWINS, in fact! Noisy, colicky twins! ANd during her pregnancy, Jimmy's mother is so irritable and she and his father fight so much that while he's away they also split up. The twins are born a couple months before Jimmy returns home from Living Island and everyone fawns on and dotes over them. Jimmy is told he's too old to believe in the crazy place he said he came from and he's just fantasizing because he's jealous of all the attention his new siblings are getting.

Number Three in the Top Ten Witches!!!
CHeck this out!!!!

Margaret hamilton's portrayal as the WIcked Witch in the Wizard of Oz made # 7! I remember when both she and WItchipoo appeared together, as well as KISS on Paul Lynde's Hallowe'en special back in 1976!

Introductory Post!
SQUEEEE! I've just been googling around and one of the first things I wanted to share with you is THIS website!!!

I had no idea until I had read this that BIllie Hayes had also played the part of Weenie the Genie in "Lidsville. I loved both these shows when I was a kid and recently receiving the "H.R Puffinstuff" DVD boxed set as a Christmas gift from my husband rekindled my imagination, especially now to see everyone more than 30 years later and imagine what a reunion movie/special would be like.

I've entertained the following scenarios;

While Jimmy was away, lost on Living Island, his parents were frantic with worry. When he came back, nobody would believe him when they told him where he had been and he was subjected to various therapies and instiutionalized and his mom got rid of Freddie.

Years later, Jimmy is working in a boring factory job. He has had several girlfriends over the years but never gotten married. He tends to be attracted to wild redheads with tattoos. He tries to avoid talking about his past because, of course, whenever he talks about Living Island, people tend to ridicule him about it. He ends up being fired from his monotonous factory job due to company downsizing and his girlfriend breaks up with him because she's tired of him not wanting to commit to marriage and/or get a better job.

During this time he also happens to become reunited with Freddie who is gathering dust in an antique shop.

Then, because he was unable to afford to pay the rent, he gets evicted from his apartment. "Oh no Jimmy!!" cries Freddie "What are we going to do?"

"Well, there's only one thing TO DO!!" replies Jimmy "We're going back to Living Island!!!"

"YAAAAYY!" squeals his beloved talking Flute!!!
